Community Water Supply Control System
Customer: Village of Trempealeau, a growing community in West Central Wisconsin.
Project Scope: The Village of Trempealeau, WI is growing and its community water supply control system was old and outdated. Industrial Automation was asked to modernize the existing water control system and make the addition of predicted new pumping equipment possible.
Project Design: Industrial Automation designed and quoted a new control system that utilizes an Allen Bradley Micrologix PLC at each point of control location. The point of operation ../includes a color touch screen that graphically indicates the state of the various pumps and the reservoir level. The touch screen allows the operator to view and adjust system variables such as lead pump selection and reservoir level pump switching points. The touch screen also displays all alarm conditions such as low reservoir level, pump motor overload, and communications problems.
Project Results: Quality, Dependability, Low cost
Previous leased line connections were eliminated and existing standard phone lines are now being utilized. These lines are more easily maintained and require less monthly cost than the leased lines. The control equipment has been updated and is now readily available versus the old equipment which is no longer available. The new system also provides a single graphical point of interface showing status and providing control of the multiple remote locations tied to the water system.
